DIVORCE LAWYERS GOLD COAST

Separation and divorce can be stressful. At Family Law GC, we guide Gold Coast clients through the divorce process — from eligibility and filing to serving your spouse and any court requirements. We explain timelines, fees, and what to expect, and coordinate related parenting and property issues so nothing falls through the cracks.

Although our office is in Tweed Heads, we regularly act for clients across the Gold Coast, including Southport, Surfers Paradise, Robina and Burleigh. Many matters can be handled by phone, email or video. We focus on clear advice and fixed-fee options where possible. Contact us to book a consultation, or view our Gold Coast family law services.

Divorce FAQs – Gold Coast

How long does a divorce take in Queensland?

Most divorces take around 4 months from filing to being finalised, provided the paperwork is in order and there are no delays.

Do I have to go to court for a divorce?

Not always. Joint applications usually don’t require attendance. For sole applications, you may need to attend if there are children under 18 or if the court requests it.

What are the basic requirements for divorce in Australia?

You must be separated for at least 12 months with no reasonable chance of reconciliation, and meet the residency/citizenship requirements (e.g., Australian citizen, permanent resident, or ordinarily resident in Australia for 12 months).
